At Cedar Woods Properties, we believe in creating more than just places to live—we strive to foster vibrant, inclusive communities where residents can truly thrive.
Our dedication to enriching lives extends beyond the homes we build; it’s about empowering the communities around them to grow and prosper.
This ethos is exemplified through our most recent community grants program at Ellendale, which has had a tangible impact on groups across Brisbane’s northside. Through initiatives like these, Cedar Woods is making a meaningful difference, demonstrating our core value of collaboration in community building.
Fostering Growth Through Action
This year, the Ellendale team distributed $10,000 in grants to four local community groups, Blair Britton, the Queensland Development Director, emphasised the importance of these initiatives:
“Community groups are the foundation of strong, connected neighbourhoods. By supporting these groups, we’re investing in the people and programs that bring our developments to life and create lasting value for everyone,” said Mr. Britton.
“This isn’t just about giving back—it’s about working hand-in-hand with local organisations to ensure that our developments, like Ellendale in Upper Kedron, are more than just places to live. They are thriving ecosystems where people connect, innovate, and grow together.”
Empowering Education and Opportunity
One of our recipients this year was the Ferny Grove State School, which received $5,000 to enhance their digital curriculum with robotics kits. The grant allowed the school to introduce cutting-edge Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM) opportunities to its junior students, equipping young learners at the school with essential skills for the future.
“This technology was at the top of our teachers’ wish list and the Ellendale Community Grant allowed us to expand the STEM program to the junior school and support our teachers,” said Cath Eurell, Vice President of the school’s P&C. “This digital technology will benefit 300 students in the junior school cohort, and the school community is so grateful to Cedar Woods for providing this grant.”
Building Skills Through Sport
The Westside Grovely Football Club used the $2,000 grant to purchase new portable goals, helping young players develop their skills in a realistic and engaging environment. Club President Paul Anson reflected on the broader impact:
“The aim of football is to score goals, and the younger players need a smaller goal suitable for them to develop their skills,” Mr Anson said. “We can set the portable goals up in a game situation at the end of training sessions to make playing more realistic and engaging for our juniors. Grants like this are invaluable, as it would normally take us 12 to 18 months to save up for something like this.”
“Cedar Woods’ support is instrumental in fostering community sport and this funding will be put to excellent use at our club,” said Mr Anson.
Supporting Essential Services
Beyond education and sports, Cedar Woods is proud to support organisations meeting critical needs. Grants this year funded upgraded lighting for Samford Netball Club, ensuring a safe space for athletes, and essential supplies for St Vincent De Paul Society’s St John Wood/The Gap Conference, which provides vital assistance to those in need.
A Commitment to Lasting Impact
Cedar Woods’ approach to community building extends far beyond bricks and mortar. Each of our developments is a reflection of our belief in fostering spaces where people connect and grow. Initiatives like the community grants program are a cornerstone of this vision, empowering local groups to continue their invaluable work and creating lasting partnerships that benefit everyone.
As we look to the future, Cedar Woods remains committed to supporting and celebrating the communities we are privileged to be part of—because building great places is just the beginning. It’s the lives lived within them that truly matter.
