What big things happened at Bushmead this year?

220704 BUSH Blog - What big things happened at Bushmead this year_ 400x300

1. We welcomed even more residents to our estate

More new home builds were completed in Bushmead in 2019 and there are many more to come!

2. Plenty of parks popped up

Plenty of parks opened in Bushmead over the last year, including:

  • Giant Park (and naming the giants via our Facebook poll) at Leeuwin Gardens on Brookhill Grove. The Giant Park’s features include a climbing net and bridge, an interactive play wall, a climbing platform, and an adventure trail and tunnel.
  • Rushmore Green in Leeuwin Boulevard. It’s ideal for toddlers and younger children.

3. Tonnes of community events took place

Here are just a few:

  • We had an outdoor sustainable movie night in March. The theme was ‘Switch Your Thinking’, which is a local government initiative to encourage sustainable living by reducing local greenhouse gas emissions. The movie shown was 'The Clean Bin Project', which has been called the sustainable living movie equivalent to ‘Super Size Me’.
  • Some of our current and future Bushmead residents also participated locally in Clean Up Australia Day in March.
  • In April, we had a Community Easter Egg Hunt and Breaky at Giant Park.

4. We launched the Bushmead Nature Trail App

In June, we launched our interactive nature trails app in partnership with Nature Play WA. The app covers a 1.75-kilometre loop of Bushmead’s nature trails and provides 11 stops that reveal information about native flora and fauna, as well as the history of the Indigenous culture of the area.

We’ve received heaps of great feedback from residents about the app, with many people sending us pictures using its selfie mode. You can download the Apple version of the app here and the Android version here.

5. Residents helped to plant new trees

In July, some of our current and future residents took part in a tree planting day near the Kadina bridge. 900 trees were planted during the day! Their selfless efforts will ensure that Bushmead continues to be an environmental oasis for generations to come.

6. Bushmead won a Residential Excellence Award

An undoubted highlight of the year was Bushmead winning the Urban Development Institute of Australia’s Residential Excellence Award for developments with more than 250 lots. This award was a recognition of the semi-rural estate’s seamless and sustainable integration with the natural Bushmead environment and its proactive creation of a thriving new community. Sustainable living is at the heart of living in Bushmead. We’re set amongst 185 hectares of pristine natural bushland and we’re a 5-Leaf EnviroDevelopment Accredited estate.

7. The Kadina Trail Park Run was launched

In late October, we held our first Kadina Trail park run with almost 250 people taking part. The sealed paths, the natural scenery and the shade that’s available along the Kadina Trail made the run an enjoyable experience for all participants. The run is now held every Saturday at Bushmead.

There's still so much more to come!

2020 promises to be an even bigger year for Bushmead, so stay tuned... You should take the opportunity to check out Bushmead and our estate for yourself. We have a display village on the corner of Northgate Promenade and Barrack Way in Bushmead. It features 12homes to suit any lifestyle or budget.
