Discover the Perfect Balance: How Ellendale Blends Nature and Community

DJI_0090 (1)

Nestled at the foothills of South D’Aguilar National Park, Ellendale at Upper Kedron is a thriving, sustainable community where nature, connection, and wellbeing are at the heart of everyday life.

Connected to the environment yet primely positioned for easy access to Brisbane’s city centre, Cedar Woods’ vision for a neighbourhood that celebrates its stunning natural setting while delivering meaningful social and environmental benefits for all who call it home is coming to life at Ellendale.

Masterplanning with Purpose

The Ellendale journey began with a commitment to rigorous Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles, and a masterplanning process underpinned by comprehensive environmental mapping and a long-term rehabilitation strategy. The result is nearly 40% of the 227- hectare community preserved as natural space and recreational areas which will be gifted to Brisbane City Council for generations to enjoy long into the future. Cedar Woods was recognised for its best-practice approach to suburban development at Ellendale with the 2021 Australia Institute of Landscape Architecture Award for Land Management.

A Diverse Community

Homesites at Ellendale are as diverse as the families who live there. Carefully crafted to complement the area’s rolling topography, the community offers a wide range of lot sizes. From traditional, flat homesites to split and sloping options, Ellendale has a variety of options suitable for a range of demographics, including first home buyers, multi-generational families and downsizers. This thoughtful approach not only enhances aesthetic appeal but also preserves vital wildlife habitats and green corridors, supporting a vibrant, socially diverse neighbourhood.

Championing the Environment

Across Cedar Woods’ projects, ‘thinking about tomorrow’ and beyond is a core principle, and at Ellendale, the environmental credentials are fundamental to its success. Since 2016, the developer has led a five-year rehabilitation program, planting 189,000 trees, shrubs, and ground covers, with efforts continuing into the future. The restoration of wildlife habitats and ecological buffers supports native fauna, including koalas, squirrel gliders, and owls. Wildlife-friendly infrastructure such as the 51 squirrel glider poles, 350 nesting boxes, and fauna underpasses, ensure local species continue to thrive alongside new residents.

According to Studies by the National Environmental Science Programme living in a leafy environment isn’t just good for the planet, it’s proven to boost physical and mental wellbeing, nurturing a true sense of belonging. Ellendale residents are encouraged to embrace their natural surroundings, making our community a place they are proud to call home.

Creating Community Connections

Social connection is woven into the fabric of Ellendale. The Community Grants Program, launched in 2017, has already distributed $95,000 to 57 local groups including not-for profit organisations, sporting clubs and schools. ‘Creating community connections’ is key to the vision for all Cedar Woods projects, and it’s already bringing people together at Ellendale.

With a community park already delivered and two more planned for the future, a network of walking and cycling trails, and the newly opened bridge connecting Hastie Ave and Rosella St providing easy access to local amenities, Ellendale is designed for active, connected living. With easy access to the Brisbane CBD, the masterplanned community creates a world of opportunities for its residents.

At Ellendale, the social connection is enhanced via the environment and lifestyle commitments made by Cedar Woods. Discover a community where you can put down roots, connect with nature, and truly belong.
