Ellendale Community Grant to support disadvantaged school children

Written by Cedar Woods | 11 November 2022

We are thrilled to highlight another recipient of our community grants program – local charity SAVE Projects Inc.

SAVE has been helping our local community for seven years by providing uniforms, stationery and other school supplies to children in need in Upper Kedron, Ferny Grove, Ferny Hills and Arana Hills.

Co-founder Vanessa Baird says it is vital disadvantaged school children aren’t left behind because of a lack of resources.

“We have families moving here from Ukraine and Afghanistan, some of whom don’t have anything in the way of school supplies,” Vanessa says.

“If we can supply a uniform or backpack to a child in need, that means the world to them as they can start school and access education in the same way as their peers.

“The Ellendale Community Grant is fabulous because it helps us continue making a positive difference in our community.”

Vanessa says the not-for-profit will use the grant to buy school supplies throughout the year on a needs basis.

The Cedar Woods Community Grants program has run nationally for more than a decade, investing and supporting not-for-profit organisations and making a positive difference in our communities locally and across the country.
