The Ellendale vision is not only to protect the environment but to enhance it. During the design process, important natural features were identified and enhanced to provide both ecological and aesthetic value.  

More than 40 per cent of Ellendale is reserved for open space and retained natural bushland, creating a tranquil community amongst the trees.  This includes 91 hectares of land that is dedicated to natural bushland and landscaped parklands. 

Included in the masterplan, an extensive five-year planting program was implemented, which includes the planting of 189,000 trees, shrubs, ground covers and fauna connections. The program will continue until 2029. 

To further support local fauna, the Ellendale team has installed nesting boxes throughout the community, attracting species such as common brush-tailed possums, pale-headed rosellas, wood ducks, carpet pythons, and lace monitor lizards.  

Additionally, 64 glider poles have been installed to aid sugar gliders and squirrel gliders in treetop travel and built fauna fences and underpasses to ensure the safety of these animals in their natural habitat.  

Vibrant and connected community
