For more than 30 years Cedar Woods has worked hard to think ahead, evolving our designs to always respond to the changing world in which we live, creating meaningful places that inspire connection and help us grow. It’s an approach grounded in understanding our customers and designing solutions...
Owning a home is core to the Australian dream and it's no secret that with property prices rising around the country, many first home buyers are feeling discouraged about being able to enter the property market. While affordable housing options are becoming increasingly scarce, they are still out there.
Cedar Woods has a long history of delivering quality property opportunities for first home buyers, which are well located and offer convenient access to essential amenities like schools, transport, shops and parklands. To continue delivering on this priority in a changing market, Cedar Woods has teamed up with one of WA’s top builders, Homebuyers Centre, to create a new home product that is specifically designed to make homeownership more attainable for first-time buyers.
Ben Rosser, Cedar Woods’ WA State Manager, shared the Company’s vision for the collaboration, saying, “The aim with this new product, named Ready Set Build, is to simply create an affordable and quality option for first home buyers to help them get into the property market.”
“Buying your first home is an exciting milestone and Cedar Woods is proud to have helped many Australians start this next chapter.”
“We understand that current financial pressures can make the process more challenging and might even discourage some from pursuing their homeownership dreams. We have worked with Homebuyers Centre to pull together a quality product, at an attractive price point that we think will tick a lot of boxes for those looking to enter the market.”
One of the key considerations in developing this product was ensuring that it fits within the parameters set by Keystart, a government-backed, low deposit home loan provider that has recently increased its eligibility to support property prices up to $650,000. This update is particularly relevant, as the Ready Set Build homes are eligible for Keystart financing, offering first home buyers a significant opportunity to enter the property market with a low deposit.
“Ready Set Build first home buyers may also qualify for the WA Government $10,000 First Home Owner Grant (FHOG) making the choice to build new rather than buying established even more enticing”, said Ben.
The first Cedar Woods project to feature these affordable homes is Eglinton Village, a masterplanned community in Perth’s north-west. Located just 500 meters from the recently opened Eglinton train station and 3 minutes from the beach, this 1,200 lot development offers residents a connected lifestyle with easy access to public transport, parks, beach and local amenities.
The low-maintenance Ready Set Build homes are perfect for busy individuals, young families and retirees who value convenience without compromising on quality and who want to maximise what Eglinton Village has to offer.
After renting for more than 10 years, first home buyers Melka and Shaun decided it was time to stop paying rent and make the move into their own brand new home.
“The Ready Set Build packages at Eglinton Village made it possible for us to purchase our first home,” said Melka.
“Finding a home within our budget was challenging, and we were in the market for close to 12 months before we found the perfect solution thanks to Homebuyers Centre and Eglinton Village.”
Melka and Shaun are excited about living close to the beach and being part of a friendly community.
“We chose Eglinton Village because of its proximity to the beach and the new Eglinton train station, while still being close to Joondalup – just what we were looking for!”
Following the success of Ready Set Build in Eglinton Village, Cedar Woods are excited to see the program extend with new packages in Baldivis community Millars Landing and more locations coming soon. The Millars Landing Ready Set Build packages are priced from $495,100* for a 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom floorplan which is very attractive when compared with the otherwise typical entry price point at Millars Landing of $640,000* for a 3 bedroom, 2 bathroom package.
Charlie, who recently secured a Millars Landing Ready Set Build package, shared his excitement about the decision to build his first home saying, “I wanted a bit more freedom, and this opportunity came up that I couldn't turn down."
“The pricing was a big factor, along with the ability to tailor the house to suit me.”
“I’m looking forward to having my own home and watching the estate develop over the next few years,” Charlie said.
Ben Rosser highlighted the new offering’s success, saying, “I’m really pleased to have already received great feedback from Ready Set Build purchasers and am looking forward to supporting more first home buyers with the extended range of homes”.
