The initiative provides support and funding for grassroots community organisations across Western Australia, Queensland and Victoria, with more than $500,000 invested since the program started in 2009.
Applications for the 2020 grants will open 1 November 2019, with $25,000 on offer to share across six Cedar Woods estates – Millars Landing and The Rivergums in Baldivis, Ariella in Brabham, Bushmead, The Brook at Byford and Byford on the Scarp.
Cedar Woods WA State Manager Ben Rosser said Cedar Woods was proud to go above and beyond its developer obligations and provide financial support to local groups.
“Neighbourhood Grants are an important investment into the future of our estates, providing opportunities for the local community to thrive,” Mr Rosser said.
“The applications are assessed on their ability to have the widest and greatest positive impact on our communities and designed to ensure the longevity of various community services.
“In previous years the money has helped with community projects across the board including providing sporting equipment, helping with wildlife protection projects and running community movie nights.”
Last year, Baldivis Little Athletics was awarded a $5,000 Neighbourhood Grant to help them purchase new equipment for the club.
Baldivis Little Athletics Centre President Shannon Bowron said the grant was a big help for the centre, which caters for more than 300 ‘Little Athletes’.
“The Cedar Woods Neighbourhood Grant meant we could purchase a second set of timing gates, which allowed us to hold both a straight track and circular track race at the same time,” Ms Bowron said.
“This means more events for our amazing Little Athletes and less manual handling for all the volunteer parents in our centre. The grant that has made a huge difference to our centre.”
To qualify for a Cedar Woods Neighbourhood Grant, community groups must be a not-for-profit organisation, preferably operating for more than 12 months. Recipients must submit one application and demonstrate how the grant benefits the community of Baldivis or the surrounding area.
Applications close on Wednesday 18th December 2019.
