Convenience is King at Burpengary

Convenience is King at Burpengary

Australians have ranked access to ‘reliable and efficient public transport’ as one of the top three factors when considering the liveability of a new community, according to a nationwide survey by social researchers .id.

Regions like Moreton Bay, which is undergoing major infrastructure upgrades, are being sought out by purchasers who equate good public transport with convenience, cost-savings, and connectivity.

A number of these key projects are centred around Burpengary, which is one of Moreton Bay’s fastest growing areas, with the new Sage community taking shape to keep pace with the region’s growing popularity.

Below are key rail and road projects which will benefit Burpengary residents now and into the future.

Rail: Burpengary Train Station upgrade

Burpengary is located 40 minutes from both Brisbane and the Sunshine Coast, making for an easy commute to either location by train.

A $53 million upgrade to Burpengary Train Station is underway, with the aim of making the station more accessible for all patrons. The works are expected to be completed in the second half of 2024. Some of the key upgrades include a new footbridge with lift access, improved accessible parking, upgraded security cameras and lighting and accessible toilets.

The train station is conveniently located opposite a shopping village which includes an IGA, gymnasium and several restaurants and cafes.

Road: Upgrades to Bruce Highway, Old Gympie Road and local roads

A $163 million upgrade to the Bruce Highway at Burpengary was completed in May 2023, including significant work on the Deception Bay Road interchange.

The project, which took three years to complete, was designed to improve safety and reduce congestion with the addition of two new parallel bridges over the highway. Existing on and off ramps were also lengthened and signalised intersections at Deception Bay Road were improved.

Looking ahead, Moreton Bay Regional Council is also planning to deliver a $60 million upgrade to Old Gympie Road, a major north-south arterial in Burpengary over the next ten years.

Cedar Woods Properties, which is developing the Sage community, will also invest $11 million to upgrade infrastructure in the area including local road networks, to ensure residents have easy access to surrounding amenities.
