A new $900m Melton Hospital coming in 2029

Big things are happening in Melbourne’s west! The Victorian Government has committed over $900 million to build the brand-new Melton Hospital, set to open in 2029. This state-of-the-art facility will provide essential healthcare services to the rapidly growing communities of Fraser Rise, Caroline Springs, Melton, and surroundings — ensuring residents can access quality medical care close to home.

What to expect

Melton Hospital will be a major milestone in the region’s healthcare infrastructure, offering world-class medical services to support local families, young professionals, and retirees alike. This state-of-the-art hospital will feature:

• Advanced radiology services for precise diagnostics.
• Ambulatory care facilities for outpatient treatments.

Once complete, Melton Hospital will be able to treat up to 130,000 patients annually, with its emergency department catering to nearly 60,000 people each year.

Victoria’s first all-electric hospital

Construction is underway

The new Melton Hospital will create more than 700 direct jobs and 1,700 indirect jobs during construction. Once operational, the hospital is expected to generate 3,975 direct jobs on-site in its first full year, including medical and nursing staff, allied health professionals, technicians, and administrative and facilities management staff. Additionally, it will generate 2,485 indirect jobs in surrounding health-related services and other businesses, further boosting the local economy
