Since launching in 2017, the Ellendale Community Grants programme has helped strengthen local connections by supporting schools, sporting clubs and not-for-profit organisations that enrich the lives of residents across Upper Kedron and surrounding suburbs.
Located just 12km from Brisbane CBD, Ellendale is a naturally beautiful community where the city meets nature, a place designed to foster connection, lifestyle and community spirit amongst the trees.
To date, Cedar Woods has awarded more than $115,000 in grants to over 60 community groups connected to the Ellendale community and its Flourish development in South Maclean.
Cedar Woods Chief Operating Officer Patrick Archer said the initiative reflected the company’s long-term commitment to creating connected and thriving neighbourhoods.
“Community groups play a vital role in enriching the lives of residents and strengthening local connections, and we’re proud to continue providing a much-needed boost for locals making a positive impact."
“Through the Ellendale Community Grants programme, we’ve supported schools, sporting clubs and not-for-profit organisations to improve their programmes and initiatives, by investing in new equipment, refurbishing facilities or purchasing essentials for people in need.”
Recent recipients have already seen the positive impact of the grants flow through the wider community.
Phoenix Netball Club received $3,500 through the 2025 grants programme, allowing the club to resurface three playing courts catering for 285 local players.
Club President Thom Contreras said the support made a significant difference for local families and players.
“Over half of our members live at Ferny Grove and Upper Kedron, and we have a number of members who live at Ellendale, so we’re really grateful that Cedar Woods supports not just our club, but other community groups across the area.”
Ferny Grove State School P&C also benefited from the initiative, receiving $5,000 in 2024 to purchase robotics kits to support 300 students at the school.
P&C Vice President Cath Eurell said the funding helped expand STEM learning opportunities for younger students.
“The Ellendale Community Grant allowed us to expand the Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics program to the junior school, and the school community is so grateful to Cedar Woods for providing this grant.”
Applications for the 2026 Ellendale Community Grants are now open and will close on 26 June 2026, with successful recipients to be announced in July 2026.
Schools and not-for-profit groups operating for more than 12 months, including sporting clubs and community organisations in Upper Kedron and surrounding suburbs, are encouraged to apply.
Mr Archer said Cedar Woods remained committed to supporting the people and organisations that help make Ellendale such a vibrant and connected community.
“Our national program reflects our core philosophy of creating connected and thriving neighbourhoods, and as our Ellendale community evolves, so too does our commitment to supporting the people and groups who make it such a vibrant place to live.”
“We look forward to championing even more worthy grant recipients, helping them to enhance their services within and beyond our community.”
The Ellendale vision is centred around creating a community filled with breathtaking moments every day, blending natural beauty, lifestyle and meaningful local connections.
Nestled against the South D’Aguilar National Park, Ellendale continues to evolve as one of Brisbane’s most naturally beautiful communities, carefully designed to enhance the surrounding environment while supporting thriving neighbourhoods.
