Mason Quarter community grows with primary school site acquisition.

Mason Quarter school site acquisition

Cedar Woods is excited to announce that plans for a future primary school located within the heart of Mason Quarter have taken another step, with the Victorian Department of Education recently acquiring a 3.5-hectare parcel of land within the development.

The school, Wollert Andrews Road P-6 Primary School (interim name), will increase the educational capacity of Wollert as the area continues to grow.

In recognition of the important role that education plays in supporting growing communities, Cedar Woods worked to secure the sale of the site in the early stages of the development of Mason Quarter.

Initial works surrounding the site have now commenced, including bulk earthworks, road and drainage construction, and utility connections, to service the proposed future school. Funded by Cedar Woods and estimated to cost $3.2 million, these works are a substantial investment in the proposed future school.

Ryan Beer, Senior Development Manager at Cedar Woods, said that the site acquisition speaks to the future-focus of the Mason Quarter project.

“Our investment in the establishment of a primary school in Mason Quarter is an investment in the future of the community,” he said.

"These vital community assets play an integral part in fostering vibrant and connected communities both now and well into the future.

“With this site acquisition, we are another step closer to making sure families in Mason Quarter are able to receive quality education for their children close to home.”

The establishment of Wollert Andrews Road P-6 Primary School (interim name) will be the first step in delivering a sports and education precinct for Mason Quarter, as the school will be next to a range of other future community facilities. This includes two football ovals, tennis courts, a sporting pavilion, and a council community centre.

Initial road construction works are slated to conclude in mid-2024, while the construction of the school is now subject to future State Government funding.
