Growing together: An exciting future for Burpengary and Moreton Bay

There’s plenty happening around Burpengary and the Moreton Bay Region, creating even more reasons to feel at home here.

City of Moreton Bay forecasts the region will grow from around 480,000 residents to approximately 690,000 by 2041, with 88,300 additional homes planned along the way.

With that growth comes investment in the things that make everyday life easier and more enjoyable, from transport and roads to recreation, essential services and new community spaces.

A growing destination for sport and recreation

Ahead of the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games, Moreton Bay Central is set to welcome the new Moreton Bay Indoor Sports Centre.

Current plans include 12 multi-use courts and capacity for up to 10,000 spectators during the Games, with the venue designed to become a lasting destination for sport and community life.

The surrounding area is already coming to life. A three-kilometre lakefront walking circuit opened in 2026 alongside picnic shelters and landscaped greenspace for more places to walk, gather and enjoy time outdoors.

A new boulevard connecting Petrie Station with the future sports centre is also being planned, while Burpengary and Petrie are approximately 12 to 13 minutes apart by train.

Investment in Burpengary’s future

In Burpengary, investment is happening closer to home too.

Plans include upgrades to the intersection of Burpengary, Station, Henderson and Rowley roads, renewed fields at Burpengary Sports Complex and new and improved local pathways.

Essential infrastructure is also supporting future homes, with the Adsett Road Sewage Pumping Station expected to unlock land for more than 1,000 residential lots across Burpengary and Morayfield South.

Burpengary train station has already received a major accessibility upgrade, including lifts, raised platforms, improved lighting and security, new passenger facilities and almost 500 park-and-ride spaces. Nearby, the purpose-built Morayfield Ambulance Station is helping support the growing community.
