The heart of Cedar Wood Properties’ Sage, Burpengary community is beating following the opening of the new 8,000sqm Community Park, delivering a range of active play elements to spark imagination and new greenspaces for residents to thrive amongst nature.

More than 170 future residents and neighbours from across the community came together for the official event recently to celebrate park’s grand opening, with free coffees, pup cups for pets and cinnamon donuts handed out to the attendees.

Entertainment included a bubble performer, mini basketball games at the new half-court and music, games and giveaways by the Nova SuperNovas.

Cedar Woods Development Director Blair Britton said Sage Park and the surrounding area is part of the developer’s $1.5M investment in greenspace, with 60% of the masterplan dedicated to open space and over 7.5ha preserved as ecological corridor.

“The Sage environmental commitment includes extensive landscaping, revegetation, and wildlife nesting initiatives across the development to protect and enhance the local environment.”

"Sage Community Park is designed to connect residents with the natural world. It’s a space where families can explore, friends can gather, and wildlife can thrive,” Mr Britton said.

“The Sage Park features a treehouse inspired playground, cricket net, half basketball/netball court, and vast green spaces which provide ample room for recreation and relaxation.

“The park’s design also integrates elements from nature, including repurposed timber, which are featured throughout the play area as stepping logs and balance beams.

“This community is fundamentally connected to greenspaces, with approximately 30% of homesites overlooking or adjacent to parklands, bushland and green spaces.

“Since welcoming our first residents in last year, the community is thriving, and we are pleased to be able to provide them with a space to relax, play and connect alongside nature.”

Future resident Emilie Mahony said she and her partner were looking forward to moving into their new home at Sage in the months ahead.

“Sage is tucked away, peaceful, and feels secure, which is important to us. The area has all the amenities we need, plus lots of nearby bushland and wildlife, which we enjoy,” she said.

“We’re excited about the quietness, the new park, which will be great to have nearby as we grow our family and just enjoying being at home in a place that suits our lifestyle.”

Mr Britton said the new park, and the broader Sage community masterplan, were designed to help native flora and fauna to prosper for generations.

“We are delivering positive environmental outcomes for our residents and the wider Burpengary community through our rehabilitation program, and supporting the native plant species and wildlife that call this region home,” he said.

“This includes planting 860 koala feed trees and over 5,600 native shrubs and grasses, creating dedicated wildlife corridors and supporting natural regeneration cross the site”

“We are proud to have retained mature trees and hollowed out habitat trees, which all play an important role supporting biodiversity by serving as homes for native animals, including gliders, owls, possums, bats, bords and cockatoos.”

“As the beating heart of this community, the park is a testament to innovative urban design, blending the natural beauty of this site with Sage’s community spirit.”

Upon completion Sage will deliver 387 residential lots, as well as the park and environmental corridors.

Situated on a 32ha parcel at Hunt Road within the fast-growing Moreton Bay Region, the masterplan is surrounded by retail centres, high quality schools and urban amenities, and just 40 minutes from the Brisbane CBD.
