Community parks do more than provide green space, they shape how people live, connect, and thrive. At our Queensland community - Sage, the newly completed park is a powerful example of this philosophy in action. Centrally located within the community, the park brings to life Sage’s long-term vision: a neighbourhood built around wellbeing, nature, and connection.
Perfectly positioned between Brisbane and the Sunshine Coast, Sage is a residential masterplanned community designed with more than 30% green space, including a seven-hectare ecological corridor. The park is at the heart of the community, and is nestled among established trees and bushland, blending seamlessly into the natural landscape while providing a central link between different parts of the neighbourhood.
For Cedar Woods, the park reflects two core values: creating community connection and thinking about tomorrow. It’s a space where people of all ages can come together, whether that’s for a morning walk, a game of cricket, or a relaxed picnic under the trees. Facilities include upcycled nature play elements, shaded seating, open lawns, a basketball/netball half court, a cricket net, and a kick-about area with mini goals.
Importantly, the park was shaped by real-life insight. Cedar Woods Senior Development Manager Hannah Blue drew on her experience as both a planner and a parent in its design.
“I truly hope this park becomes the heart of the community, a place where neighbours can meet, friendships are formed, and memories are made,” says Hannah. “That’s the power of thoughtful design in a place like Sage.”
These design principles are backed by evidence. Research shows that parks and green spaces support physical and mental health, encourage social interaction, and contribute to stronger, more resilient communities. At Sage, these benefits are embedded into everyday life.
As the community continues to grow, the park will play a key role in connecting people and places, offering a shared environment that evolves with its residents. It’s a space that not only meets today’s needs but will continue to serve generations to come.
