As a part of our 2023 Community Grants Program, the resident-led group, Botanica Arts Appreciation Association were awarded funding to assist in establishing an annual art competition and exhibition for teen artists studying at the Adelaide Central School of Art (ACSA), located within the Glenside development.
The first ever Arts on Glenside Youth Art Prize and Exhibition was held on September 16th. Organised by Botanica Apartments Arts Appreciation Association in partnership with ACSA, this event aimed to showcase the talent of young artists studying at ACSA and celebrate their unique perspectives.
The event was a resounding success with 22 exceptional entries on display. Each piece of art was a testament to the creativity and skill of these budding artists. The judges had an arduous task in selecting a winner for the $300 prize, provided by the Cedar Woods grant. However, after much deliberation, Charlotte McCarthy's portrait painting titled 'Ayla' was declared the winner.

The turnout for the event was beyond expectations, with a large crowd comprising of not only families of the teen artists but also residents of Glenside. It was heartwarming to see members of the community come together to support and appreciate the efforts of these young artists. In fact, some attendees were so impressed by the artwork that they purchased pieces on display!
The Inaugural Arts on Glenside Youth Art Prize and Exhibition was truly a celebration of young talent and a testament to the thriving arts community in Glenside. It is events like these that inspire and encourage young artists to continue pursuing their passion for the arts.
We hope that this event will become an annual tradition, giving more opportunities for young artists to showcase their talent and gain recognition within the community.
