Celebrating Emerging Artists: The 2025 Arts on Glenside Youth Art Prize

As part of our 2023 Community Grants Program, the resident-led Botanica Arts Appreciation Association received funding to launch an annual art competition and exhibition for teen artists studying at the Adelaide Central School of Art (ACSA), located within the Glenside development.

The association recently hosted its third exhibition in August 2025, marking another milestone in what has become a much-loved community tradition. Designed to showcase the incredible talent of ACSA’s young artists and to celebrate their unique perspectives, the event has grown in profile and impact each year.

This year, the Arts on Glenside Youth Art Prize 2025 was proud to be part of the SALA Festival, Adelaide’s statewide celebration of visual art. Held at ACSA, the exhibition featured 35 artworks, each offering a window into the creative minds of South Australia’s next generation of artists.

This year’s winner was Bill Thoroughgood with his ink drawing titled “Sadness”. Bill received a gift voucher for a teen art course at ACSA.

Additionally, two artists received high commendations: Sedrah Isa with “Wednesday” done in pastels and Hannah Ross with her painting titled “Train Painting”. Each of these talented artists was presented with certificates to acknowledge their exceptional work.
