Celebrating Young Talent: The 2024 Arts on Glenside Youth Art Prize

Art Exhibition Lumi Hero

As a part of our 2023 Community Grants Program, the resident-led Botanica Arts Appreciation Association received funding to launch an annual art competition and exhibition for teen artists studying at the Adelaide Central School of Art (ACSA), situated in the Glenside development. The association recently hosted its second exhibition on Saturday, September 21st.

This annual event is designed to showcase the incredible talent of young artists at ACSA and to celebrate their unique perspectives. This year's exhibition was a remarkable success, featuring outstanding entries that highlighted the creativity and skill of these emerging artists.

Selecting a winner for the $300 prize, provided by the Cedar Woods grant, was no easy task for the judges. After careful consideration, Lumi Lucic Marshall was announced as the winner for her stunning coloured pencil drawing titled Falling Asleep.

Additionally, two artists received high commendations: Bill Thoroughgood for his oil painting Redhead, and Felicia Xing for her water-based oil piece The Little Bluebird That Lost Its Voice. Each of these talented artists was presented with certificates to acknowledge their exceptional work.

It was heartwarming to see members of the community come together to support and appreciate the efforts of these young artists. The annual Arts on Glenside Youth Art Prize and Exhibition is not only a celebration of young talent but also a testament to the thriving arts community in Glenside. Events like this inspire and encourage young artists to pursue their passion and continue to express themselves through their art.
